1) Burglary Resistive Safes

This group of safes are designed to protect their contents against unauthorized access and/or theft of the container itself. They are heavily constructed to resist forceful and manipulative entry attempts.
Exhaustive "real world" testing by qualify the products of manufacturers who produce burglary rated containers. There are many levels of U.L. listing which correspond to the security requirements of a wide range of specialized uses from simple cash and cash drawer safes for sales offices and stores to safes designed for use by jewelers, retail stores and businesses which are highly dependent upon the best burglary resistant equipment available.

2) Fire / Record Safes

This group of safes are usually the least expensive of all safes, since they are rarely designed to afford significant protection against burglary or surreptitious entry. Their construction usually consists of a thin sheet metal skin with a poured-in gypsum plaster insulating material. Fireproof files may also be considered in this category.
When exposed to high temperatures this plaster material expands due to the vaporization of moisture held within it, sealing the door shut. This helps to protect the contents against temperatures in excess of 350 degrees F for the specified period of time (usually 1 to 2 hours). Look for an Underwriters Laboratories label. If it doesn't have one, it is not a real fireproof file or record safe.

3) Floor Safes

This group of safes provide some special advantages as high security containers for many both residential and commercial applications. These safes can be easily concealed, require little if any floor space and provide formidable barriers to unauthorized access. Floor safes come with tubular bodies and square bodies; with round or square doors and in various U.L. security ratings. |

4) Specialty Safes

This group of safes combine the features of burglary resistance and thermal protection. Some even offer other features such as time delay access or depository features. As with all safes, look for the Underwriters Laboratories seal. If you don't see it, it's just a safe by appearance alone. Multi-purpose safes tend to be some of the heaviest and most expensive of all safes. They should represent an investment which will serve for many generations.
They are commonly of heavy steel construction clad with high density mineral ( composite) walls. Most people think that all safes are of this category while, in fact, most are not. When you read in the news about a safe being burglarized, chances are that it was a simple fire safe being used to store valuables. This illustrates that you should know more about your safe than a burglar.

5) Media / Software Safes

This group of safes are much more than "fire safes," and are engineered specifically for the storage of critical electronic data and micrographic media. Computer Media is damaged by temperatures over 125°F or humidity over 85%. In a media safe, computer media is protected from fire, dust, magnetic fields, unauthorized access, accidental damage and electrostatics. The walls and doors provide the ultimate in protection by incorporating layers of heat absorbing material, fireproof insulating foam and a tough steel casing. |

We take pride in the products that we pass along to you.
